I had the good fortune to work with Bob for many years as his Chief Legal Counsel at the Michigan Department of Transportation. I knew him to be a person of the highest personal ethics and an exceptionally dedicated public servant. He treated everyone he met with respect. Yet when the circumstances required, he could be as formidable as necessary. The People of the State of Michigan were always well served. I regarded Bob as a friend and respected colleague. His daughter, Bobbi, carried on his high standards at MDOT and is equally well-regarded. She is a tribute to her father and an important part of his legacy. While I lost touch with Bob as we both retired, I did hear of him from time-to-time from mutual friends. Along with many, many others, I will miss him.
