Vera L. Lord, 95, of Galena, IL, formerly of Leesburg, FL and Bronson, MI passed away on Saturday, April 25, 2015 in Galena.
A service will be held on Wednesday, April 29, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Dutcher–Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson. Interment will follow at Mason Cemetery in Coldwater. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, beginning at 12 Noon at the funeral home.
Vera was born December 1, 1919 in Coldwater, MI to Rudolph & Amanda (Zarbuck) Gerth. She married Melvin Chapman and later married Gilbert Lord, they both preceded her in death.
Vera was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. In early years she lived in the Coldwater and Bronson areas then relocated to Leesburg, FL where she was a member of the Silver Lake Community Church. After 45 years in Leesburg, Vera moved to Galena, IL to be closer to her daughter.
Vera is survived by her daughter Linda (Henry Goldstein) Chapman of Dubuque, IA, her daughter-in-law Brenda Chapman, her grandchildren Jerry (Donna) Chapman, Jeff (Toni) Chapman, John Chapman, Rebecca (Jerry) Zenz, Patrick (Kris) Fair and several great grandchildren. In addition to both husbands, she was also preceded in death by her son James Chapman, grandchildren Beth Fair and James Chapman, Jr. and 7 brothers and sisters.
