Obituary for Stanley H. Barkowski

Stanley H. Barkowski, 92, of Bronson, passed away on Sunday, September 5, 2010 at the Sturgis Hospital.



A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Wednesday, September 8, 2010 at St. Mary of Assumption Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Richard Fritz officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Bronson. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 from 2-8pm with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 P.M. at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson.



Stanley was born on June 25, 1918 to Andrew and Rose (Wotta) Barkowski in Elkhart, Indiana. He attended St. Mary’s Catholic School in Bronson. He served honorably in the U.S. Army during WWII as a radio operator in the European theater, receiving two Purple Hearts. He married Alberta Kibiloski on June 21, 1947 at St. Mary of Assumption Church.
Mr. Barkowski was a resident of Bronson nearly all of his life. He had worked as a machinist at Eaton’s in Marshall for 33 years, retiring in 1974. He was a member of St. Mary of Assumption Church, the Knights of Columbus Council #2924 and the American Legion Post #259 in Bronson. Through the years he enjoyed gardening and going fishing.


Stanley is survived by his wife, Alberta, sons; Michael D. Barkowski of Bronson, Pat (Sandy) Barkowski of Coldwater and Dennis (Jacqueline) Barkowski of Bronson, half brother, Frank Kruzka of Sherwood, half sister, Virginia (Gerald) Smoker of Bronson, grandchildren; Aimee (Josh) Alger, Cody, Kacey, Justin and Michael A. Barkowski.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Albin R. Barkowski and Frank Barkowski and a half brother, Raymond Kruzka.
