Ruth Ilene Meyer, 87 of Bronson passed away Sunday, September 20, 2015 at the Community Health Center of Branch County while surrounded by family.

A funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM on Saturday, September 26, 2015 at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson with Dr. Bruce Meyer officiating. Interment will follow at Matteson Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday, September 25, 2015 at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home from 2 – 8:00 PM.

Ruth was born February 11, 1928 to Frank and Bessie (Bright) Meyer in Colon. Immediately after graduation from Bronson High School, she began a long career with Douglas Manufacturing Company. Ruth started in the accounting department, and then became the secretary to President of the company, starting with Nathan Higbie. Ruth retired after 45 years so she could enjoy traveling.

Ruth was raised on a farm and liked doing farm work. She milked cows and other farming chores well after her career at Douglas started. Ruth also enjoyed gardening, doing puzzles, and reading (especially history). She relished spending time with her family and close friends. Ruth will be remembered as a loving, caring, and generous woman.

Miss Meyer is survived by her siblings Rhea Savchuck of Ligioner, IN, and Robert “Bob” (Beth) Meyer of Montgomery; her sister-in-law Libbie Meyer of Bronson; her best friend, housemate and adopted sister Vera Hurd of Bronson; several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brothers Raymond, Ralph, Randall, and Roger Meyer.
