Obituary for Phillip S. Miller

Phillip S. Miller
Phillip S. Miller, 67, of Coldwater passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2015 at his home following a courageous fight with cancer.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 31, 2015 at 2:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Evangelist Mike Roberts from the Church of Christ in Bronson officiating. Interment of Ashes will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Girard with Military Honors presented by the Coldwater American Legion Post #52. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, beginning at 1:00 PM.
Phillip was born July 22, 1948 to Thomas Samuel and Bernice June (Bennett) Miller in Salinas, California. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Navy. On March 15, 1972 he married Gertrude “Ann” (Zimmerman) Weers in Orland, California. Shortly after their marriage, they moved to Michigan. Phil began a 37 year career at Maple Lawn, where he was the assistant maintenance supervisor. He retired in 2014 due to health reasons.
Phil was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He will be remembered for having a heart of gold, being very helpful to everyone, and at times a bit feisty. He enjoyed mowing the yard and watching sports, especially U of M football. Phil liked to tinker, building items for work and home. His true passion was riding motorcycles, and was very proud of his Harley Tri-Glide. Phil will be missed by many.
Mr. Miller is survived by his wife of 43 years, Gertrude “Ann” Miller of Coldwater; his children Robert Leon (Shelley) Weers of Germany (serving in the U.S. Army), Jennifer Ramona Miller-Clark, and Phillip Stanley (Desiree) Miller II all of Coldwater; his siblings Maryann (Lloyd) Haynie of Coldwater, Viola (Cy) Houghton, Frank Miller, and Bonnie Carter all of California; his grandchildren Damon and Shelby Holderness, Corey and Zachary Weers, Anthony McClish, Mercede Miller, Jocinda and Bethany Clark; his great grandchildren Angel and Nevaeh Miller, and Gracelyn Platschorre; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister Janet.
Memorials may be directed to the CHC Home Health and Hospice. www.dutcherfh.com
