Phillip Herman, 93, of Coldwater, passed away Thursday, December 17, 2015 at Masonville Place in Coldwater.

A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday, December 21, 2015 at 11:00 AM at St. Mary of Assumption Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Richard Fritz and Very Rev. Fr. Mark Vyverman officiating. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will be Sunday, December 20, 2015 from 6-8 at Dutcher- Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson, with the Rosary recited at 7:00 PM.

Phillip was born November 29, 1922 to Joseph and Mary (Stefanski) Herman in Bronson. On August 11, 1951 he married Virginia Losinski. They have resided in Branch County since their marriage, where Phillip worked the family farm and also did carpentry work. He enjoyed being “Mr. Fix It” around the house and farm.

Phillip was a man of faith and long-time member of the Catholic Church. He was a quiet family man who enjoyed fishing, polka dancing, and in his younger days played the banjo and harmonica. Phillip enjoyed tinkering on his farm equipment, and was especially proud of his Oliver 60 tractor which will be used to lead the procession on Monday.

Mr. Herman is survived by his wife of 64 years Virginia Herman of Coldwater; his children Daniel (Holly) Uecker-Herman of Grand Rapids, Marie (Kent) Hazelett of Battle Creek, Marvin (Vern) Herman of Union City, and Dennis (Susan) Herman of Coldwater; his grandchildren Amanda (Dave) Kane, Ashley (Adam) Beam, Caleb (Joordn) Uecker-Herman, Caitlin (Chelsea) Uecker-Herman, Carson Uecker-Herman, Ashlee Mefford, Pat Herman, and Theresa Solak; his great granddaughter Natalie Kane; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; his four brothers and four sisters.
