Paul J.  Gaskill
Paul J. Gaskill, 89, of Quincy, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Community Health Center of Branch County.
The funeral will be Monday, September 21, 2015 at 1:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor David Pierce from the First Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Military honors will be presented by the American Legion #52 Drill Team and the Patriot Guard. Visitation will be Monday, prior to the service, beginning at 11:00 AM at Dutcher Funeral Home.
Paul was born May 14, 1926 in Angola, IN to Jeremiah & Hattie (Sidel) Gaskill. He served in the US Navy during WWII, as part of the air-sea rescue crash boat in the South Pacific.
Paul married Marian Dirschell on April 26, 1947 in Coldwater.
Mr. Gaskill briefly worked for LA Darling and Blaskie Construction. He began his career with Commercial Carriers as a car hauler, retiring in 1988 after 35 years. Paul belonged to the Quincy American Legion , the Coldwater Eagles and was a life member of the Elks. He enjoyed bowling, serving as president of the league for many years. Paul was a skilled woodworker and an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing.
Paul is survived by his wife Marian, his children Gary (Sue) Gaskill of Quincy, Christy (Keith) Snyder of Coldwater, his grandchildren Jamie (Doug) Bryant, Lindie (Ryan) McKenzie, Brooke Snyder, great grandchildren Jacob Bryant and Kadence McKenzie and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by sisters Icel Lambdin, Octa Shaffer and his half -brother Leslie Shaffer.
