Obituary for Maxine E. Mains

Maxine E.  Mains
Maxine Elizabeth Mains, 91 of Coldwater passed away Sunday, March 27, 2016 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility.

A funeral service will take place at 1:00 PM on Thursday, March 31, 2016 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Youth Pastor and Worship Leader Michael Mains of Ward Church officiating. Interment will follow at Lyon Lake Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 11:00 AM.

Maxine was born September 2, 1924 to Harold and Dexter (Hunter) Taylor in St. Joseph County. Shortly after graduation from Sturgis High School, she married the love of her life Stanley Mains on November 24, 1943 in Battle Creek. He preceded her in death on March 8, 1984. Maxine was an excellent cook. She owned and operated the Stockyard Restaurant in the 1970’s and also the Goodie Shop in Coldwater prior to selling.
Maxine was involved with the Super 60’s in Sturgis. She was an avid Detroit Tigers fan. Maxine was the Queen of the family and liked having things done her way. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, and fishing. Maxine was a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother. She always put everyone else’s needs above her own. She will be missed by many.

Mrs. Mains is survived by her daughters Beverly (Sam) Boehmer of Jackson, Linda (JR) Hoskins of Bronson, Barbara (Dan) Church of Coldwater, Elizabeth (John) Yeakey of Coldwater, and Angela (Ashley) Mains of Springfield; her sons Charles (Debbie) Mains of Battle Creek and Terry (Paula) Mains of Burlington; her sister-in-laws Betty Mains of El Paso, TX, Gloria Taylor of Sturgis, and Joyce Taylor of Drummond Island; 23 grandchildren, 45 great grandchildren, and 13 great, great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Stanley; 1 sister; 5 brothers; 2 grandchildren; and 1 great grandchild.
