Obituary for Martha M. Haynes

Martha M. Haynes, 87, of Coldwater, passed away on Sunday, April 22, 2012 at the Community Health Center of Branch County.
Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, April 26, 2012 at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Coldwater with Rev. Fr. Richard Fritz officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove in Coldwater. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 25, 2012 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM with the Rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Martha was born March 10, 1925 in Coldwater, Michigan to Ralph and Lucille (Abbott) Covey. She graduated from St. Charles High School in 1942 and married Delmer Haynes on September 20, 1945. He preceded her in death on January 21, 1989. She lived in Coldwater her entire life and in addition to being a dedicated homemaker, she served as a social worker at Maple Lawn for 25 years, retiring in 1991.
Martha was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church where she volunteered for Bingo night. She was a member of the D.A.R. and volunteered at Maple Lawn, helping with activities. She was a loving mother to her family, which was very important to her, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She enjoyed many years of touring the U.S. and Canada on the back of her husband’s motorcycle. She will be greatly missed by her family.
Mrs. Haynes is survived by her son John Haynes and his wife Julie, her daughter Mardel Nutt and her husband Larry and her daughter Marie VanAken, all of Coldwater, her grandchildren Ryan VanAken and his wife Amy, Angela Huntley and her husband Matt and Jada Haynes, her great-grandchildren Rylie VanAken, Laynie VanAken and Sophia Huntley.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters Helen Brown and Jane Kollmorgen, her brother William Covey and her son-in-law Charlie VanAken.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to CHC Volunteer Services or the Branch County Commission on Aging.
