Obituary for Marilyn Jane Brickey

Marilyn Jane Brickey, 89, of Coldwater, passed away on Sunday, September 6, 2015 at Drews Place of Coldwater.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Coldwater United Methodist Church with Pastor Edrye Maurer officiating. There will be a visitation from 12 Noon – 2:00 PM prior to the memorial service at the church. Private interment of the ashes will take place at Rice Cemetery in Elkhart, Indiana.
Marilyn was born April 20, 1926 to Bert and Edna (Whittingham) MacFarlane in Chicago, Illinois. She graduated from Elkhart High School in 1944 and then from Katherine Gibbs Secretarial school, Chicago, Illinois in 1945. She married Frank Shuman Jr. on August 20, 1949.
She had worked as a secretary for the following companies, American Coating Mills, Elkhart, Indiana 1945-1947, Miles Laboratories, Elkhart, Indiana 1947-1949 and from 1964-1976, Professor Civil Engineering at Purdue University, Lafayette, Indiana 1950, Home Insurance Company, Chicago, Illinois 1951-1954 and at Coldwater Community Schools 1978-1988.
Marilyn was a member of the CHC (Auxillary) Volunteers for 27 years, Coldwater United Methodist Church and Tibbits. She enjoyed volunteering at the CHC, knitting for her family, friends and herself, doing ceramics for friends and charity, playing bridge at clubs and the senior center, reading and making crafts. She had and made many friends at the senior center.
Marilyn is survived by her son, Frank (Cindy) Shuman III of Orange, Texas; her grandchildren, Dr. Frank (Natalie) Shuman IV, Jason (Shelley) Shuman and Jaclyn Shuman; her great grandchildren, Hailey Shuman and Frank Shuman V. She is also survived by a niece Jennifer (Kevin) Roney, nephew John (Melda) MacFarlane, a special nephew Bruce (Ruth) Young and her special friends David (Janet) Kahler and their children Janessa, Darby and Shelby.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Frank, her daughter Lisa, husbands Ned Morrow and Bill Brickey, her brother Bert MacFarlane Jr. and special cousins Bill Heitz and Dolores James.
Memorials may be directed to CHC Volunteers, Celebration Tree of Lights, Branch County Library or the Coldwater United Methodist Church.
