Obituary for Margaret S. Carman

Margaret S.  Carman
Margaret S. Carman, 93, of Coldwater, passed away on Sunday May 5, 2013 at the Community Health Center of Branch County.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 5:00pm at the First Presbyterian Church in Coldwater with Rev. Renee Whitaker officiating. Interment will follow at the church columbarium.
Margaret was born on December 27, 1919 in Mackinaw City to Lloyd and Emily (Comstock) Stimpson. She graduated from Highland Park High School in 1937 and continued on at the local community college. She completed her Bachelors of Home Economics at Michigan State University. She married James A. Carman on December 7, 1944 in Long Beach, CA while James was serving in the U.S. Navy. He preceded her in death on April 17, 2009.
Margaret was a very active member of the First Presbyterian Church, serving with the Women’s Society. She was an avid Bridge player and enjoyed playing golf until the age of 90. She had a heart for others and always did things with the best intentions, though she was not afraid to speak her mind. She also enjoyed traveling the U.S with her husband, putting over 100,000 miles on their motor home through the years. She had lived in Coldwater for the past 14 years, but had lived in Mackinaw City, MI for the 20 years prior and before that she made her home in Saline, MI.
Mrs. Carman is survived by her sons David (Deborah) Carman of Coldwater and Christopher (Trinka) Carman of Martin, her grandchildren C.J. Carman, Jonathan (Amy) Carman, Shane Carman, Zachary Carman, Peter Carman and Olivia Carman and her great-grandchildren Riley Carman and Addison Carman.
In addition to her husband, Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Leslie Sue Carman, her son James Carman, Jr. and her brother Lloyd Stimpson, Jr.
