Obituary for Kevin D. Smith

Kevin D.  Smith
Kevin Duane Smith, 51 of Coldwater passed away unexpectedly on Monday, August 31, 2015 at his home in Coldwater.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 4, 2015 at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson with Pastor Jim Erwin from Bethel Gilead Community Church officiating. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, September 3, 2015 at the funeral home from 5:00 – 8:00 PM.

Kevin was born February 14, 1964 to Evert and Linda (Herendeen) Smith in Sturgis. He was a hardworking man, starting in high school where he worked for Campbell’s Mushroom Farm. After graduation from Bronson High School in 1983, he started a long career as a machinist. Kevin had been working at Autocam Automotive in Marshall for the last 12 years. Prior, he worked 17 years at Camshaft Machine Company in Orland. On December 31, 1989, Kevin married Tracy Dolson, who preceded him in death on July 4, 2006.

Kevin was an active member of the Coldwater Eagles, American Legion, and Moose Lodge. He had many interests including hunting, fishing, camping, bowling, throwing horseshoes, golfing, and following NASCAR. Mostly he enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially sitting around campfires. Kevin will be remembered as a loving, caring, and helpful person and will be missed by many.

Mr. Smith is survived by his parents Evert and Linda Smith of Bronson; his girlfriend Pamela Callahan of Coldwater; his sister Kathy (Mike) Troyer of LaGrange, IN and Keith (Susan) Smith of Newnan, GA; his God son Kyle Cox; his in-laws David (Carma) Dolson; his brother-in-law Al (Jamie) Dolson; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents and wife Tracy.
