Jack L. Ferrier, 81, of Coldwater passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Community Health Center of Branch County.
A funeral service will take place at 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Ken Bilsborrow of Good News Bible Church officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery where military honors will be presented by Coldwater American Legion Post 52. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 2, 2015 at Dutcher Funeral Home from 2:00 – 4:00 & 6:00 – 8:00 PM.
Jack was born January 12, 1934 to Vernon and Clara (Speck) Ferrier in Fort Wayne, Indiana. After graduation from high school, he proudly served his country in the U.S. Army where Jack was a helicopter crew chief. Upon leaving the Army, Jack began a long career as a truck driver, retiring from ANR Freight in 1996.
Jack was a man of faith and a long-time member at the Coldwater Church of the Holy Spirit. He prided himself on helping others. Jack participated with the Salvation Army as a bell ringer for many years. He enjoyed cheering people up and lifting their spirits by being very encouraging with his words and actions. Jack was always available to help in any way he could. He will be missed by many.
Mr. Ferrier is survived by his son Kenneth (Ren’e) Wakley of Coldwater; his siblings Berdiena Stevens of Ft. Wayne, IN, Helen Niemeyer of Hemet, CA, Diana Edwards of Ft. Wayne IN, Gloria (Don) Reidt of Ft. Wayne, IN, his grandchildren Jack Wakley and Kristine (Adam) Wardwell; his great grandchildren Ayden and Arilinn Wardwell; several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Floyd Ferrier and sister Juanita Sampson.
