J. Richard McClelland, 88, of Bronson, passed away on Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at his home on Gilead Lake.
The service will be Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Dutcher-Kolcz Funeral Home in Bronson. Visitation will be held on Saturday, prior to the service, beginning at 9:00 AM at the funeral home. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Lawton, MI.
Richard was born August 9, 1923 in Tennessee City, TN to John & Irene (Adams) McClelland. He married Burniece R. Nicholson on June 5, 1943 in Lawton.
Mr. McClelland worked for Bronson Specialties Inc for many years as a sales engineer, until his retirement in 1989. He was a member of the Bronson First United Methodist Church and had formerly danced with the Merry Mixers Square Dance Club. Richard was an avid supporter of the Tibbits and had served as Gilead Township Trustee. He belonged to the Audubon Society and was very pro active in conservation preservation. Richard loved the outdoors and spent much time re-foresting a 10 acre property with trees. He also enjoyed traveling and fishing, especially fly fishing.
Richard is survived by his wife Burniece, his son David & Linda McClelland of Lacey, MI his grandchildren Todd & Donna McClelland of Grand Rapids, Jeff & Jamie McClelland of Coldwater, 5 step grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren
