Grace E. Reese, 92, of Coldwater, passed away on Tuesday, November 23, 2010 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at the Free Methodist Church in Coldwater.
Grace was born on August 17, 1918 in Crystal Springs, Kansas to Edward and Mary (Troyer) Shettler. She earned her teaching certificate after high school and taught at an Amish school in Kalona, Iowa. She married Austin Miller in May of 1939, they later divorced. She then married Lloyd Reese in November of 1967. He preceded her in death in 1999.
Grace lived in Branch County since 1950 and had worked as a veterinarian assistant to Dr. B.K. Pearce in the early 1960s. After twenty years with Dr. Pearce, she began operating a dog grooming business from her home. She was very active in the Free Methodist Church in Coldwater, was a longtime member of the Sweet Adelines and had served on the Board of Directors for ADAPT. Grace loved her friends, family, entertaining, cooking and traveling.
Mrs. Reese is survived by her son Douglas (Connie) Miller of Prior Lake, MN, step-sons, Wendel Reese of Rochester Hills and Wayne (Chris) Reese of Coldwater, step-daughter-in-law Delores Reese of Oakland, CA, grandchildren Scott and Steve, step-grandchildren Laurie, Wendy, Monique, Vincent, Kyle, Sarah and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Lloyd, she was preceded in death by a son Don Miller, daughter Karen Miller, step-son Walter Reese, two sisters and five brothers.
