Geraldine Lee Smith, 58, of Coldwater passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2016 surrounded by her family.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Harold Jewell of Oasis of Love Family Church officiating. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 31, 2016 from 5:00 – 8:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Geraldine was born September 16, 1957 to Richard Smith and Margaret (Fyvie) Wendel in Newberry. She graduated from Coldwater High School in 1975 and married Steve Banker in 1976, together they had 2 children, their marriage ended in divorce. She was a home health aid worker for many years in the Coldwater area. She had also worked for Adapt and at Maplelawn Medical Care Facility.
She attended Oasis of Love Family Church and was a member of the Coldwater Eagles. Geraldine enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, computer games, animals, spending time with her family and sitting outside in her garden area.
Geraldine is survived by her mother, Margaret (Henry) Wendel of Coldwater; her father Richard Smith of Adrian; her granddaughter, Raegan Banker of Quincy; her siblings, Carol (Frank) Poradzisz of Coldwater, Randy (Pam) Rose of Coldwater and Rex Rose of Coldwater; her step-siblings, Dennis (Barb) Wendel of Cary, North Carolina, Mike Wendel of Rockford and Sandy Wendel-Keranhan of Allen. She was preceded in death by her son, James Banker in March 2006, her maternal grandparents, Roy and Violet Fyvie and her paternal grandparents, Lewis and Mable Smith.
