Obituary for Carolyn J. Brecheisen

Carolyn J. Brecheisen, 95, of Coldwater, passed away on Monday, December 7, 2015 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, December 11, 2015 at 11:00AM at Our Savior Lutheran Church in Union City with Pastor David Dodge officiating. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM at the church. Interment of Ashes will take place at Freeport Cemetery in Freeport, MI at a later date. Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Carolyn was born July 29, 1920 in Woodland, MI to Robert & Mary (Booth) Born. Her mother died when Carolyn was a small child and she was raised by her father, Robert, and stepmother Vesta.
Carolyn married John C. Brecheisen on October 9, 1938 in Freeport, he preceded her in death on July 9, 1995.
Mrs. Brecheisen was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker who, along with her husband, raised her children on the family farm. She also worked at the Coldwater Country Club and Union City Schools for several years.
Carolyn attended St. Paul Lutheran Church in Coldwater and Our Savior Lutheran Church in Union City, where she was very active. She enjoyed reading, quilting, and gardening, and she was a fantastic cook. Carolyn and John were proud to have been honored in the Michigan Farmer’s Hall of Fame.
Carolyn is survived by her children: Lois (Archie) Bell of Hamilton, Tom (Mary) Brecheisen, Paul (Lorri) Brecheisen all of Coldwater, her grandchildren Brent (Kim) Converse, Sara (Jim) Mallard, Angela Enos, Ryan (Emma) Brecheisen, Kirt (Denys) Brecheisen, Karla (Mike) Tolsma, Kent Brecheisen, and 14 great grandchildren. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her daughter and son-in-law Marcia & Bob Godfrey, her sister Frances Reuther, and her brothers Robert and Philip Born.
Memorials may be directed to Branch Co. Commission on Aging.
