Obituary for Blaine Stroble

Blaine Stroble, 90, of N. Ft. Myers, Florida, formerly of Algansee Township died Tuesday, December 7, 2010 at Cape Coral Hope Hospice.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 12, 2010 from 2 – 5:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater. A private family burial will be held at Lester Cemetery in Algansee Township.
Blaine was born on February 11, 1920 in Hartford City, Indiana to Howard and Ellen (Willman) Stroble.
He served honorably in the Army Air Corp during WWII and was discharged in May of 1945.
He married Myrna Sellick on June 20, 1948 in Hartford City. He had owned and operated a farm in Blackford Co., IN, and in 1956 he moved to Ft. Wayne, IN to work for the George Wright Farm. Blaine also worked on the dairy farm of Starr Commonwealth for Boys in Albion, MI before purchasing his farm on Lester Road in Algansee Township.
He was director of PCA (now Farm Credit) of Kalamazoo for many years, a life member of the Branch County 4-H Foundation, and a 4-H leader for several years. Blaine also belonged to the Merry Mixers Square Dance Club of Coldwater, was co-editor of the Battle Creek Square & Round Dance publication “Round Up” with his wife and served as officers in both dance organizations. Mr. Stroble enjoyed his lifetime of farming in Indiana and Michigan before his retirement in 1988 and moving to Florida. Blaine was president of the Lot Owners Association, Inc., past president of the Southern District Shuffleboard Association, the Ft. Myers Shuffleboard Club, and the Laurel Estates Shuffleboard Club.

Mr. Stroble is survived by his wife of 62 years, Myrna, his sons Larry (Robin) Stroble of Kendallville, IN,
Gordon Stroble of Coldwater, Keith ( Nancy) Stroble of Reading, his daughters Linda (Claude) McLain of Ternary, MI, and Nancy (Doug) Niergarth of Alpena, his sisters Rhea Rogers, Mary Ellen DuBois, and Barbara Thomas, 12 grandchildren, several great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his brothers Richard and Howard Stroble, his sisters Joyce Stroble, Charlotte Stroble, and Wilma McCammon.
