Vera F. Lewis, 91, of Coldwater, passed away on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at the Community Health Center of Branch Co.
The funeral service will be Wednesday, August 6, 2014 at 11:00 AM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Dave Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Girard. Visitation will be Tuesday, August 5, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home.
Vera was born March 5, 1923 in Battle Creek, MI to William & Fern (Smith) Harper. She married John J. Lewis on April 8, 1943 in Tekonsha.
Mrs. Lewis was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She had worked at the former Pants factory and Coldwater Brass and for many years as the secretary for the Jerry Tomson Insurance Agency. Vera had attended the United Methodist Church in Union City where she had also taught Sunday School. She was an avid bowler, playing on a league for many years. Vera enjoyed playing cards, shuffleboard and bingo. She was a great cook and very creative in a variety of crafts.
Vera is survived by her husband John, her sons James (Paula) Lewis, Jerald (Julie) Lewis, her daughter-in-law Pat Lewis all of Coldwater, her grandchildren Sandy (Tate) Reichhart, Jason (Kathy) Lewis, David Lewis, Dan Lewis, Bobbie Jo (Darin Wolff) Lewis, Jimmy Lewis, Joe Lewis, Jeff Lewis Gordon (Whitney) Lewis, nieces and nephews Parlee (Jack) McCormick, Bunnee Smoker, Randy (Jenny) Harper, Tammy (Dennis) Brauker, Nancy Lyle, Julie (Rick) Perry, Wendy (Tom) Milliman, 13 great grandchildren and 2 great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her son John Jay Lewis III, her granddaughter Melanie Lewis, 2 sisters and 1 brother.
