Obituary for Kenneth L. "Kenny" King

Kenneth L. "Kenny" King
Kenneth “Kenny” Lee King, 67 of Quincy passed away Friday, September 01, 2017 at Borgess Medical Center in Kalamazoo.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Jeanette Strauss officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery with Military Honors presented by Coldwater American Legion Post 52. Visitation will be Wednesday, September 6, 2017 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home.

Kenneth was born April 24, 1950 to Richard and Lucille (Rice) King in Coldwater. After graduation from Quincy High School, Kenny started taking college classes. College was interrupted by the Vietnam War, where he proudly served in the US Army. Upon return from the war, he began a long career as a truck driver, and retired from USF Holland. On August 30, 1980 he married the love of his life Christine Spaulding.

Kenny was a member of the Lansing American Legion, the Vietnam Veterans of America, and the VFW. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and rock collecting, especially pudding stones. Kenny and Christine also liked going to garage sales to find antiques for their booth in the Allen Antique Mall. They both took annual trips up north to go mushroom hunting. He also had a fondness of old cars, motorcycles, and Jeep’s. Kenny’s true joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered as an outgoing, friendly, and caring man who will be missed by many.

Kenneth is survived by his wife of 37 years, Christine King of Quincy; his children Dana (Eric Knapp) King of Coldwater, Seth (Angie) King of Coldwater, and Jillian (Matt) Wilen of Grayslake, IL; his sister-in-law Trish (Bill) Boger of Fishers, IN; his grandchildren Mikayla King, Noah Grubb, Nolan King, Vivian King, Lucas Wilen, and Kenli Wilen; his nephews Scott (Jessica) King and Patrick King; his nieces Courtney (Andy Sharpe) King and Carolyn (Jimmy) Durham. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Keith King.
