Two stories I wanted to share because I'm so far away from his family and feel the pain of his lost.  Uncle Bob is the youngest of an unusually close family that started from five siblings. My mother being the fourth child and only girl of the Griggs'.  

The first story is when I was a child, maybe six.  This was right before Uncle Bob met Aunt Carrol. My mom's two older brothers; Chuck and Ed had moved their family to Hawaii so most of my cousins were not going to be at the annual Grigg family Christmas Eve. That night grandma's house was way too quiet and sadly different. I remember the custom gift giving number was always two; one from grandma, one from cousin selected from hat.  That year when most of our family was sadly absent, Uncle Bob walks in and broke that custom. I remember his present to me was this huge doll!  My mood instantly turned around from a sad participant into a very happy little girl.  He loved children his whole life.

My second story is more recent.  Almost five years ago my mother passed away, I remember talking to Uncle Bob on the telephone.  It was very hard for me to tell him his favorite sister had passed.  They had a very close relationship.  Uncle Bob, and I'm sure Aunt Carrol, sent me a check because they wanted me to be okay.  Such huge generosity from two special people.  Even know I never cashed the check it held a deep sense of family love for me.
