Obituary for Bertha M. Herald

Bertha M. Herald
Bertha Marie Herald, 89 of Coldwater passed away peacefully Saturday, November 26, 2016 at Bronson at Home in Battle Creek while surrounded by family.
A funeral service will take place at 12:00 PM, Friday, December 2, 2016 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Harold Jewel of Oasis of Love Family Church officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 11:00 AM. Interment will be Friday at 2:45 PM at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart. The family will also have a celebration of life service at Oasis of Love at a later date.
Bertha was born November 10, 1927 to William and Julia (Lowe) Mason in Fawn River Township. On November 27, 1943 she married the love of her life, Junior Herald in Coldwater. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1986. Bertha raised her family, and then began a 15 year career in the RV manufacturing business as a sewer. She worked 10 years at Lux Company and 5 years at Coachman before retiring.
Bertha was a woman of faith and a seven year member of Oasis of Love Family Church. She had many interests including going to yard sales & flea markets, playing games, and sewing. Bertha read her bible every day for inspiration in her life. She has lived at Coldwater Crossing (formerly Halcyon Point) for the past 27 years. Her true joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Mrs. Herald is survived by her daughters Joyce Brown and Susan (Cliff) Lape all of Coldwater; her daughter-in-laws Rita Herald of Edwardburg and Bonnie Herald of Elkhart; 22 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; 27 great, great grandchildren; several nieces & nephews; her good friend of 9 years Dorothy Snyder; and “Peanut” the neighbor dog. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Junior; her sons Edward, Floyd and Ivan Herald; her son-in-law Lee Brown; 1 granddaughter and 2 great grandchildren; her brothers Leroy, Alfred, Donald, Leonard, and Junior Mason; her sisters Florance Griffen, Stella Vaughn, Ethel Cuyler, Viola Wing, Phillis Martin, and Ruby Oberhauser.
