Obituary for Duane C. Ferry

Duane C. Ferry
Duane Charles Ferry, 58, of Bronson, went to be with his Lord and Savior Tuesday, November 1, 2016 due to a tragic auto accident that also took the life of his mother Beverly Ferry.

A memorial service will take place at 1:00 PM on Friday, November 11, 2016 at the Bronson Junior/Senior High School Gymnasium with Pastors’ Frank Queen and Phil Charles of Snow Prairie Bible Church officiating. Interment will occur at a later date at Batavia Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday, November10, 2016 from 2:00 – 8:00 PM at the funeral home in Coldwater.

Duane was born July 3, 1958 to Elmer and Beverly (Goodwin) Ferry in Coldwater. After graduation from Bronson High School, he continued his education at Mott Community College earning an Associate’s Degree. Duane has worked at Bronson Community Schools as a custodian since 2002. Prior to BCS, he spent 23 years with Eckrich & ConAgra Foods. On September 20, 1980, he married the love of his life Myra Clemens in Coldwater.

Duane was a man of faith and a long-time member of Snow Prairie Bible Church, where he also served as both a Deacon and an Elder. In his younger days, he was a very accomplished baseball player. He pitched for the Bronson High School Varsity Team from 1974 – 77, and was the winning starting pitcher in the 1975 State Championship game. He then continued playing at Mott, where he was scouted by professional teams. After his playing days were over, his love for the game continued while he coached and taught his children and others the game. His true passion in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Duane enjoyed fishing, camping, and family activities. He will be remembered as a hardworking mentor, and also a generous, patient, humble, and quiet man. Duane will be missed by many.

Mr. Ferry is survived by his wife of 36 years, Myra Ferry of Bronson; his sons Preston (Elizabeth) Ferry of Bronson, Tristan (Misty) Ferry of Coldwater, Trevor (Elaine) Ferry of Bronson, Travis (Mary) Ferry of Bronson, and Drew (Samantha Adams) Ferry of Delton; his brother Bob Ferry of Bronson; his grandchildren Lauren, Margaret, Jose, Brianna, Natalia, Bryson, Brooklynn, Cooper, Molly, Grant, Abbigail, and Olivia; his father-in-law Gerald Clemens; and several nieces & nephews.
