To Dan's family and fiancee: I'm so terribly sorry about the tragic loss of Dan. I met Dan at Virginia Tech. We were in the same graduate class and ended up in the same research group. Despite living in different states for the last 10+ years, we kept in touch and I saw him every so often when I visited home in MI. He really was a super guy, which is why we at VT called him Super Dan. Our Red Wings trio, or hat trick if you will, with him, myself, and our friend Mason will never be the same.
