Lawrence “Pops” Thomas Blevins, 82, of Coldwater passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016 surrounded by his family at home.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, June 30, 2016 at Vicksburg Cemetery in Vicksburg, Michigan with Very Rev. Mark Vyverman, St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Coldwater officiating. The family is being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Pops was born on January 29, 1934 to Walter and Mary A. (Jackson) Blevins in S. Pittsburgh, Tennessee.
After graduating from high school he began a long career as a heavy equipment operator through the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 324, Kalamazoo. He was also a pig farmer for many years in Climax.
He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers since 1957, the Mason’s in Allensville, Kentucky and St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church in Coldwater. Pops enjoyed cooking, wood working and fishing.
Pops is survived by his children; Tony Blevins of Michigan, Rose (Marty) O’Brien of Coldwater, Margaret Knowles of Constantine and Donna (John) Conkell of Battle Creek, his 17 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his best buddy Kevin O’Brien. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Donna, his daughter Charlene Davis, his son Thomas Blevins, his brother Christopher Blevins and his sisters Mary M. Sims and Rose Sheldon.
