Obituary for Daniel D. "Dan" Haylett

Daniel D. "Dan"  Haylett
Daniel “Dan” Dean Haylett, 70 of Coldwater, passed away on Saturday, April 9, 2016, at Bronson Hospital in Kalamazoo.

A Memorial Mass will take place at 11:30 AM Wednesday, April 13, 2016, at St. Charles Borromeo Church in Coldwater with the Very Rev. Mark Vyverman and Rev. Fr. Richard Fritz of St. Mary of Assumption Church officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 12, 2016, at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater from 4 – 8:00, eulogy at 6:30 with Rosary being recited at 7:00 PM.

Daniel was born December 4, 1945, the son of Roy and Cynthia (Morgan) Haylett in Coldwater. After graduation from St. Charles High School in 1964, he began his long working career. Dan married the love of his life, Sandra J. Killian on June 4, 1966, in Bronson. He worked at Essex Corporation for 14 years before beginning a 30 plus year career as an auto salesman.

Dan was a man of faith, a member of the Knights of Columbus chapter 2900 and a member of St. Charles Borromeo Church. He was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. Dan had many hobbies including woodworking, painting, camping, and old cars. He enjoyed old coins and was a member of the LaGrange County Coin Club. Dan’s true joy in life was his family, where he loved gathering with many generations to share stories and a good meal. He will be remembered as being mild mannered, patient, and kind. He will be missed by many.

Mr. Haylett is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandra Haylett of Coldwater; his daughters Brenda (John) Underwood of Quincy and Janina (Trey) Jewell of Euless, TX; his brother Dave (Nancy) Haylett of Coldwater; his grandchildren Morgan, Jack, and Ian Underwood; his nephews Matt and Chase Haylett and Josh Winters; his aunt Beverly Symons; his good friend Earl Ross; his half-sisters Teddy Stayner of Georgia, Susan Stayner of Coldwater, and Vickie Bishop of Ceresco, IL; and numerous other extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Cynthia; his dear friend, car buddy and cousin Michael VanKampen and his biological father Wilbur Minniear.
