A Mentor

I could write pages of fond memories of my relationship with Keith Tracy.  He was my teacher of Phys Ed in my Freshman year and Government in my Senior year.  He was my Coach, although I was not a player, rather the equipment manager and statistician.  He was my Driver’s Ed instructor.  He was one of my Senior Class advisors.  He was my counsellor, chaperone, and guide on my first trip to Europe with the Foreign Study club.  He was one of my Mentors and I am so thankful he took the time to mentor me.

I am certainly not alone in my relationship with Keith.  He treated ALL of his students in the same manner.  He cared about each and every one.  He was invited to many class reunions because he meant so much to each of his students.  He was a teacher in a time when teachers went above and beyond to make certain their students got the best of what they had to give.

After College and Graduate School, after a career out in the world, and after moving back to Bronson to care for my Father, Keith would always ask how things were going, as a friend.  He would not allow me to call him Mr. Tracy and would always address me as “Ding-A-ling-A-ling”.  I’m not alone.  He was a friend to all of his students, whether during the years we were in his classroom and/or on his practice field, or out in the world years beyond.  He will always be in my heart as one of my Mentors.  I’m not alone.  He touched many of us.
