Gregory B. "Greg"  Speaker
Gregory “Greg” Bruce Speaker, 70 of Coldwater passed away on Sunday, July 26, 2015 at Lynwood Manor in Adrian.
A memorial service will take place at 3:00 PM on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Coldwater Township Hall with Pastor Dave Brown officiating. Visitation and luncheon will be from 1:00-3:00 PM prior to the memorial service at the Coldwater Township Hall.
Gregory was born February 6, 1945 to Fred and Maxine (Swihart) Speaker, Jr. in Lakeland, FL. After graduation from high school, he served his country in the U.S. Air Force. On December 17, 1966, Greg married the love of his life Kay Suzanne Myers in Coldwater. He owned and operated Quality Optical in Sturgis prior to moving to Coldwater in 1991. He retired from the business in 2012.
Greg was an avid hunter and fisherman. He enjoyed going to his cabin in Manistee County, Michigan, where he always enjoyed doing something outdoors. He built and flew a powered parachute. Greg recently liked going to Meijer and walking for exercise. Mostly, he relished spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be remembered as a very likeable, generous, and helpful man with a great sense of humor.
Mr. Speaker is survived by his wife of 48 years Sue Speaker of Coldwater; his children Kristin Eaton of Yulee, FL, Kerry (Daniel) McDowell of Marshall, and Shane Speaker of Coldwater; his brother Daniel (Eva) Speaker of Union City; his grandchildren Codie and Shailyn Eaton, Jaden Everhart; Colin, Macie, Kadeem, Korrine, and Max McDowell, Joshua and Zachary Speaker; his great grandson Kyson Eaton; his nephew Danny Lee Speaker; and his favorite dog Ruger. He is also survived by his two cousins, Kathy (Jeff) Culy of Coldwater and Karen (Bernie) Friend of Coldwater. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Memorials may be directed to the Forgotten Man Ministries or the Branch County Animal Shelter.
