Obituary for Alberta A. Strother

Alberta A.  Strother
Alberta Ann Strother, 87, of Coldwater passed away on Friday July 10, 2015 at Maple Lawn Medical Care Facility in Coldwater.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 3:00 PM, Wednesday, July 15, 2015 at Lakeview Cemetery in Quincy. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, July 14, 2015 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Alberta was born in Coldwater on February 23, 1928. Her parents were Verl and Leona (Counterman) Sowles. After graduating from Coldwater High School, she met and then married Garland Blair Strother on July 31, 1952 in Coldwater.
Alberta loved being surrounded by her family, as well as gardening, painting, crocheting, reading and her cats. Three weeks ago, she went on her last car ride to the family lake house that she hadn’t seen in several years. The wonderful trip ended with her favorite treat, a DQ Blizzard.
She is survived by her daughters; Shelly (Glenn) Baldwin of Coldwater, Christy (Vernon) Schnelker of Auburn, Indiana and Kim Russell of Coldwater; her grandchildren, Nicole (Paul) Mandeville, Angela (Scott) Gessinger, Andy (Jamie) Schnelker and Misty (Jeremy) Rockstroh. She is also survived by 12 great grandchildren. Alberta was preceded in death by her husband Garland on June 17, 2002 and a brother Eugene Sowles.
Memorials may be directed to the Humane Society of Branch County.
