Obituary for Ruth A. Rogers

Ruth A. Rogers, 76, of Coldwater, passed away on Tuesday, September 23, 2014 at her home.
The funeral service will be Sunday, September 28, 2014 at 4:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Rev. Joseph Young officiating, with cremation to follow. The family will receive friends, prior to the service, beginning at 2:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home.
Ruth was born August 16, 1938 in Hillsdale, MI to William & Bessie (Wendorf) Champion. She married Lyle R. Rogers on May 10, 1968 in Tekonsha.
Ruth was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker and had worked at the former Shaw Shoe Factory and Corless Cleaners in earlier years. She and Lyle owned several rental properties that she managed while he drove truck and they also owned and operated Rogers Grocery in Pilot Knob. Ruth & Lyle spent many years in the Houghton Lake area where they had owned and operated the Rogers Willow Lagoon Resort.
Ruth was a skilled seamstress and enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting. She enjoyed flower gardening, painting, watching hummingbirds and cooking. Ruth loved to take “hot from the oven” homemade bread and sugar cookies to their neighbors and friends. Ruth adored her family. She loved traveling and spending family time together, especially with her many grandchildren.
Ruth is survived by her husband Lyle, her children Debra (Joe) Young of Charleston, WV, Susan Pickett of Coldwater, Steven (Kathy) Pickett of Cecelia, KY, Gary (Rose) Rogers of Henderson, NV, Cheryl (Gary) Dearth of Reading, Jerry (Sandy) Rogers of Clayton, Douglas (Irma) Rogers of DeWitt, David (Candace) Rogers of Mason, Dennis (Lindy) Rogers of Bullard, TX, her brothers and sister Richard (Mary) Champion of Jackson, William “Bill” (Marge) Champion, Helen Morris both of Battle Creek, Lester Champion of Litchfield, 26 grandchildren and many great and great, great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by 1 sister and 6 brothers.
Memorials may be directed to Oaklawn Hospice.
