Obituary for William "Dean" Parks

William G. “Dean” Parks, Sr., 75 of Coldwater passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014 at home while surrounded by family.
A funeral service will take place at 12:00 Noon on Monday, September 29, 2014 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor David Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeview Cemetery in Quincy. Visitation will be held prior to the funeral beginning at 10:00 AM on Monday at the funeral home.
William was born February 28, 1939 in Ann Arbor to Utley L. and Lola M. (Worthington) Parks, Sr. He married Karen Aemisegger on May 25, 1968 in Coldwater.
After graduation from high school, Dean attended KVCC, earning his Associate’s Degree in Transportation. He served honorably for six years with the Army National Guard and was an officer for many years with the Coldwater Police Department. He retired in 2006 as a realtor.
Dean has been a life-long supporter of the Boy Scouts, where he served as a troop leader. He was a member of the FOP, Past President of the Coldwater Eagles, and a member of the Coldwater American Legion. Dean played drums in the band “Jesters”, enjoyed woodworking, playing cards, and playing fast-pitch softball. His true love was spending time with his family, and will be remembered for his big heart & giving spirit.
Mr. Parks is survived by his wife of 46 years, Karen Parks of Coldwater; his children Christine (Tony) Heiser of Burr Oak, William (Debra) Parks, Jr. of Coldwater, Amy Jo Parks of Middlebury, IN, Michelle (Randy) Tice of Quincy, Katrina Morris-Parks of Coldwater, and Mathew (Michelle) Parks of Marshall; his brothers Roscoe (Barb) Parks of Coldwater and Utley (Joyce) Parks, Jr. of Coldwater; 18 grand-children and 11 great grand-children; several nieces & nephews; and many good friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter Tina Marie Parks; his grandson Logan Dale Tice; his sisters Ruth Spangler, Willa Palmateer, Carol JoAnn Powers, Lena and Leona Parks; and his brothers Vernon and Merlon Parks.
