Boyd R. Blashfield, 95, of Coldwater, passed away on Monday, September 22, 2014 at Marshall Nursing and Rehabilitation.
The funeral will be Friday, Sept. 26, 2014 at 1:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor David Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Lockwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM at Dutcher Funeral Home.
Boyd was born August 21, 1919 in Tekonsha, MI to Floyd & Iva (Shafer) Blashfield. He married Julia R. Bitz on March 28, 1943 in Tekonsha. She preceded him in death on March 19, 2013.
Boyd was a lifelong farmer, operating his family farm while also working for Thurston Tractor Sales in Homer, Quality Springs and Midwest Foundry, from which he retired after its closing.
Mr. Blashfield enjoyed mechanics and working on engines, auto racing and riding motorcycles.
Boyd is survived by his sons Kerry (Sharon) Blashfield of Tekonsha, John Blashfield of Coldwater, his daughter Diane (Edward) Parshall of Quincy, his sisters Jean Hall of Tekonsha, Ilah Clark of Burlington, Joan Cooper of Union City, 9 grandchildren, several great grandchildren, 3 great, great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his daughter-in-law Faye Blashfield, and his sister Ruth Dean.
