Margaret E.  Poling-Byrne
Margaret Elizabeth Poling-Byrne, 93, of Coldwater, passed away on Tuesday, August 26, 2014 at the Community Health Center of Branch County, surrounded by her loving family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 11:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Church with Rev. Fr. Mark Vyverman officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater. Visitation will be held on Friday, August 29, 2014 from 2-4 & 6-8:00 PM, with the Rosary to begin at 7:00 PM, at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.

Margaret was born March 16, 1921 in Quincy, MI to Joseph & Margret (Kutchey) Warkoczeski. She was raised on the family farm, 1 of 10 children and graduated from St. Charles School in 1939. She married Burl C. Poling on May 28, 1941, he preceded her in death on March 18, 1988. She then married Patrick Byrne on Oct. 11, 1997, he preceded her in death on Oct. 3, 2004.

Margaret had worked at the former Roby’s Drug Store, Federal Mogul and retired from Eckrich in 1986. She enjoyed waitressing in earlier years and after her retirement, she was proud to have been the first greeter at our local Wal-Mart Store. Margaret was a very devout catholic and a lifelong member of St. Charles Church. She belonged to the American Legion and CHC Auxiliaries and the Coldwater Elks. Margaret enjoyed traveling, gardening, cooking and canning and loved living life with her large family. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends and was so very proud of her daughters whom she referred to as “six American beauties.” Margaret had a great spirit, sense of humor, sparkling blue eyes and warm smile and enjoyed life to the fullest.

Margaret is survived by her daughters Mary Margaret (Joe) Huston of Columbus, MT, Marcia (John) McGrath of Battle Creek, Marlene (Doug) Gallup of Marshall, Marcella (Rick) Gates of Coldwater, Melissa (Don) Spotts of Lexington, SC, her step children and their families F. Patrick (Debbie) Byrne of Loveland, OH, Nancy (Dan) Voss of Lansing, Carrie (Dave) Haadsma of Tupelo, MS, her son-in-law Jim Collum of Greenfield, WI, her grandchildren Kristina, Kara, Kelly Jo, Jeff, Mark, Chelsey, Creighton, Courtney, Erica, Zac, Tyler, Abby, Alex and Christopher, 20 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by her daughter Monica Collum and 9 brothers and sisters.
