Gertrude A. Vermiere, 103, of Coldwater, formerly of Birmingham, passed away on Sunday, October 20, 2013 at Masonville House.
The funeral service will be Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 12 Noon at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Coldwater with Pastor Aaron Chittick officiating. Visitation will be held Saturday, prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 AM at St. Paul Lutheran Church. Interment will be Monday at Woodmere Cemetery in Detroit. Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Gertrude was born September 12, 1910 in Detroit, MI to Charles & Anna (Schweim) Albrecht. She married Peter A. Vermiere on February 8, 1947 in Detroit, he preceded her in death on February 14, 1990.
Mrs. Vermiere was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She was a longtime member of Our Shepherd Lutheran Church in Birmingham, where she was very active, and after relocating to Coldwater in 2005, attended St. Paul Lutheran Church. Gertrude was involved with many organizations within the communities where she resided. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading, but most of all she loved to spend time with her family.
Gertrude is survived by her daughter Valerie (Bob) Shedd of Coldwater, her grandchildren Aaron (Lindsey Reh ) Shedd of Grand Rapids, and Ryan Shedd of San Francisco, CA.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church or Southern Care Hospice.
