Obituary for Rosemary Van Every

Rosemary Van Every, 92, of Ft. Wayne, IN, formerly of Coldwater, was born August 14, 1919 and died on August 14, 2011 at Harbor Assisted Living in Ft. Wayne, surrounded by her family when the angels took her to Heaven .
The funeral service will be Thursday, August 18, 2011 at 11:00 AM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor David Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery in Coldwater. Visitation will be held prior to the service beginning at 10:00 AM at the funeral home.
Rosemary was born in Lima, Ohio to Albert & Myn (Stohan) Reid . She married R. Wayne Van Every on August 16, 1947 in Angola, IN. He preceded her in death in 1968.
Mrs. Van Every spent many years between the Ft. Wayne and Coldwater areas. She graduated from Berkley High School in Berkley, MI as Salutorian in 1938. She then graduated from Henry Ford Hospital School of Nursing in 1941 with her RN degree and had her diploma presented by Henry Ford himself. Rosemary served as a Neuropsychiatric Nurse and 1st Lieutenant in the Army Nurse Corp for 35 months in the South Pacific during WWII. Rosemary worked at the Coldwater State Home for 19 years, retiring in 1979. After her retirement she moved to Bradenton , FL where she spent 16 years before coming back to the Ft. Wayne area in 1995. Rosemary was a member of the Good Shepard United Methodist Church in Ft. Wayne, she was an avid reader and enjoyed oil painting, crossword puzzles, golfing, tennis and traveling. She loved learning about history and had a great sense of humor.
Rosemary is survived by her son Reid (Kim) Van Every, her daughters Susan (Jerry) Mendenhall, Karen Van Every, 3 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews and 4 feline grandpets. In addition to her husband she was also preceded in death by her parents and her sister Doris Phizacklea.
Memorials may be directed to Homebound Meals in Ft. Wayne, Allen Co. League for the Blind, The Alzheimer’s Association or the Charity of One’s Choice. The family thanks The Harbor Assisted Living and Heartland Hospice in Ft. Wayne for their tender loving care of Rosemary.
