Obituary for Josephine L. Jasper

Josephine L. Jasper, 90, of Coldwater, formerly of Union City, passed away on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at The Community Health Center of Branch County.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, March 7, 2012 at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Fatima Church in Union City with Rev. Fr. Daniel Doctor officiating. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery in Union City. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 6, 2012 from 3 – 8:00 PM , with the Rosary to begin at 7 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Josephine was born February 22, 1922 in Branch County to Enos & Mary (Skudlarick) Okenske. She graduated from St. Charles School in 1940 and married John P. Jasper on July 6, 1946 in Coldwater. He preceded her in death on November 27, 1982.
Mrs. Jasper worked for over 30 years at Kellogg’s in Battle Creek, retiring in 1985 and had been a member of the Kellogg’s 25 year club. She was an active member of Our Lady of Fatima Church in Union City where she had belonged to the Ladies Auxiliary. Josephine was an avid gardener and was proud to have maintained the beautiful gardens at Masonville House in Coldwater for the past few years. She was a great cook and enjoyed knitting, crocheting and spending time with her beloved cat. Josephine also enjoyed scrapbooking newspaper articles of family and historic events. She was a very kind, giving person who loved to do things for others.


Josephine is survived by her daughter Carol & Wes Kosier of Coldwater, her brother-in-law Bill Parker of Coldwater, her grandchildren Dawn Kosier of Coldwater, Andria Jasper of Olivet, step-granddaughter Lisa Kosier of Quincy, her nieces and nephews Don & Margie Waite of Paw Paw, Jim & Linda Waite of Bronson, Judy Pappas of Sturgis, Dr. John Kurtz of Saline and Marianne & Vern Roberts of Clarkston.


In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son Robert Jasper, her grandson Jonathan Jasper, her sisters Cecelia Okenske, Helen Waite, Mildred Herman and Margaret Parker.
