Obituary for Wayne A. Lindsey

Wayne Arthur Lindsey, 68, of Coldwater passed away unexpectedly, but peacefully on Monday, February 22, 2021 at his home. In following the family’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will take place at a later date. The family was cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Wayne was born March 18, 1952 to Phineas and Ellen (Houtz) Lindsey in Coldwater. He was a lifelong resident of Branch County and graduated from Coldwater High School in 1970. Wayne spent many years working at Midwest Foundry until its closing, a short time working at Walmart, and then he drove semi-trucks for a number of years. He had many interests. He enjoyed spending time fishing, bowling, playing pool, and especially playing cards with his friends at Burnside Center or anywhere he could find a lively Euchre game. Wayne was an avid NASCAR fan. He especially followed Dale Earnhardt, Sr. He loved the companionship of cats and dogs and had several that were dear to his heart in his lifetime. You would find him at the Branch County Fair every year watching the truck and tractor pulls, sampling the fair food, and watching his grandchildren show their 4-H animal projects. Wayne’s true joy in life was being a grandpa.
Wayne is survived by his children Chandra (Troy) Gruner of Coldwater and Tyson Lindsey of Union City; his sister Louise (Larry) Collins of Coldwater; his grandchildren Garrett, Kelsey, and Gavin Gruner, all of Coldwater; his nephew David (Michelle) Collins and great nieces Megan & Jessica Collins all of Franklin, TN; and his long-time friend Glenna McCreery. He was preceded in death by his parents; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and his dog “Scruffy”.
Memorials may be directed to the Branch County Humane Society, American Diabetes Association, or the charity of one’s choice. www.dutcherfh.com
