Obituary for Walter Edward "Pete" Inde

Walter “Pete” Edward Inde, 82, of Coldwater, passed away Friday, February 19, 2021, at Northern Lakes Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Angola, IN. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

He was born December 7, 1938, to Edward G. and Olive E. (Porter) Inde in Batavia Township, MI. He was a 1957 graduate of Coldwater High School and, on May 17, 1959, he married Marjorie H. Schray. The two shared 61 years of marriage, spending 33 years of those at Bartholomew Lake in Coldwater, MI.
Pete had a long career in driver sales, working for Anderson Dairy, Silver Cup Bakers, Holsum Bread, and, ultimately, Aunt Millie’s where he retired in 2001. He served in the National Guard and the Army Reserves for 8 years. He was a member of several leagues and clubs including the Jaycees, Waterworks Fast Pitch Softball League, Burnside Golf League, Merry Mixers and Wagon Wheels Square Dance Clubs. Throughout his time with the varied clubs and associations, Pete held several titles; in 1962 he earned the Batting Title with the softball league and he served as president for both the Burnside Golf League and Wagon Wheels Square Dance Club. Pete was a caring man; not only to his family, friends and neighbors, but also to the neighborhood dogs who knew to stop in for the treats he stocked for their visits. He was always there with a helping hand and will be dearly missed by his friends and family.

In addition to his wife, Marge, Pete is survived by his children Chris (Kelly) Inde of Ft. Wayne, IN; Julia (Gordon) Hunter of Germantown, TN; his sister Catherine Galinis of Sturgis; his grandchildren Sarah (Sam) Bronowski, Emily Inde, Alexander Inde, and Matthew Hunter; as well as his many loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters Virginia Warner, Helen Dailey, Elaine Inde, and his brother Edward Inde.

Memorial donations are suggested to the Burnside Center in Coldwater.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
