Obituary for Waive Joyce Wardwell
Waive Joyce Wardwell, 87, of Coldwater passed away Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Grand Vista Assisted Living in Coldwater. A memorial service for Waive will be held Saturday, June 19, 2021 at 11:00 AM at the Union Church in Quincy with Pastor Frank Queen officiating. The family will receive friends for visitation Saturday from 10:00 AM until time of service at the church.
Waive was born April 14, 1934 to Harold and Beatrice (Shettler) Wilson in Frankfort, MI. She attended Central Michigan University where she attained her Master’s degree in education which led her to her life long career of teaching music. Waive taught and played music for over 35 years before retiring, but never let her passion for music burn out. She was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association; a member, the choir director, and pianist for Snow Prairie Bible Church; and had also played for and participated in the Coldwater Rotary Club, Solo Ensemble, Theater for Young Audiences, and the Balladiers. She was also the Coldwater Chamber of Commerce 1988 Outstand Citizen of the Year. Waive was a loving and inspiring woman that enjoyed gardening and motorcycling, but above all she was devoted to her family and God. Waive loved nothing more than to get her entire family together for holidays and family occasions and she will be dearly missed.
Waive is survived by her children David (Vanessa Warren) Wardwell of Coldwater, Lori (Gary) Abbott of Quincy, DeeDee (Rick Girod) Reagen of Grover Hill, OH, Scott Wardwell of Coldwater; her sisters Earline (Paul) Gibson of Indianapolis, IN, Allegra Hibma of Caledonia, MI; 13 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren, and her numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister Vernice Speck, and three brothers George, Cleve, and Craig Wilson.
