Obituary for Virginia Elizabeth "Jean" Smoker

Virginia E. Smoker, 89, of Bronson, passed away Thursday, September 29, 2022 at her home surrounded by her loved ones.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, October 6, 2022 at 10:30 AM at St. Mary of Assumption Church in Bronson with Rev. Fr. Paul Redmond officiating. A private family interment will be held at St. Mary’s Cemetery. Visitation will take place Wednesday, October 5, 2022 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson from 4:00-7:00 PM with the Rosary service to be recited at 7:00 PM led by Deacon John Wielgos.
Virginia was born August 17, 1933 in Bronson, MI to Frank and Rose (Wotta) Kruszka. She married Gerald (Jerry) J. Smoker on November 8, 1958 in Bronson. He preceded her in death on June 5, 2018.
Mrs. Smoker was a nurse aid at Coldwater Health Center for several years. She also assisted her husband Jerry with the Adult Education Program at Sturgis Public Schools. Virginia enjoyed entertaining people in her home, she was a great cook and a dedicated homemaker.
Virginia loved making people laugh with her quick sense of humor as well as reading and traveling. She was always there for her family. Her unfailing love and support was endured throughout the lives of her children. She was always eager to help someone in need with food, donations or just friendship.
She is survived by her children Rose Smoker Billups of Bronson, Mary Smoker of Richland; her grandchildren Nathan (Nikki) Savage, Jason (Lisa) Smoker, Ashley (Joseph) Drennan; her great grandchildren Jordan (Clemens) Savage, Caden & Cohen Smoker, Jayden, Brody, and Declan Drennan.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Stan Barkowski, Frank Barkowski, Albin Barkowski, Francis Kruszka, and Raymond Kruszka.
