Obituary for Viola M. "Short" McLennan

Viola Mae “Short” McLennan, 87, of Coldwater passed away Thursday, February 03, 2022 at Promedica Regional Coldwater Hospital.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 6, 2022 at 12:00PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater. A private burial has already taken place at West Eckford Cemetery in Marshall.

Vi was born May 15, 1934 to Henry and Rosa (Dugger) Goodman in Jonesborough, TN. On May 5, 1956 she married the love of her life, Bruce McLennan, in Angola, IN. He preceded her in death on May 31, 2000. Vi worked as a waitress for many years with a few different restaurants, as well as the State Street Mercantile in Marshall, MI. She was a woman of faith and attended Cook’s Prairie Baptist Church for many years.

Vi was musically talented and played the piano by ear. Vi also enjoyed going bowling, playing euchre, and throwing horseshoes. An occasional trip to the casino to play the slots was always a treat. She will be remembered for being a loving, kind, nurturing, and beautiful person. Vi will be dearly missed by those that knew and loved her.

Mrs. McLennan is survived by her children Judy (Roy) Hamilton of Bradenton, FL, Patricia (Phil) Casteel of Coldwater, Donald McLennan of Hawks, MI, and Ronald (Susan) McLennan of Gregory, MI; her sister Barbara Rogers of Chattanooga, TN; her sister-in-law Cathy Goodman of Romulus; her brothers-in-law Winford “Blackie” Black of Coldwater, and Charles Sparks of Southgate; her grandchildren Tracy (Steve) DiSorbo, Holly (Jon) Dean, Kathryn (Arnold) Padilla, Spencer & Jack McLennan; her great grandchildren Vinnie, Lorenzo, & Emilia DiSorbo, Scarlett Rose Padilla and Luca Lee Padilla; her niece Robin (Ernie) Samuel; and her dog “Snickers.” She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 44 years Bruce McLennan; her brother John Goodman; her sisters Sylvia “Feet” Goodman, Sarah “Duck” Sparks, and Shirl “Bug” Black; and her brother-in-law Hoover Rogers.
