Vernon H. "Vern"  Macke
Vernon “Vern” Henry Macke, 90 of Bronson Mi. passed away Saturday, February 03, 2018 at the Sturgis Hospital.

Visitation will be Wednesday, February 07, 2018 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson from 2:00 to 7:00.
A funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Church on the corner of 5th and Main St. in Burr Oak, MI, with visitation from 12 o’clock to 1:00 PM. Burial will take place at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Bronson, MI.

Vernon was born July 21, 1927 to Christ and Edna (Bleeke) Macke in Decatur, IN. He proudly served his country in the U. S. Army in 1946 to 1947 stationed at Fort Louis, WA. Shortly after his return he married Velma Bradtmueller on October 2, 1948 at St. John Bingen Lutheran Church in Decatur, IN. She preceded him in death on August 14, 1998.

On December 18, 1999 he married Eileen (Thieme) Vondran at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Fort Wayne, IN.
He was a life-long dairy and grain farmer and garnered many awards for to producing herds. He also pursued many interests. He enjoyed traveling with Velma around the country, going camping with the fishing group, golfing (He had two Hole-in-ones!) He wintered in LaBelle, FL for 30 years plus. Being a farmer he was very active in the Branch County Fair and loved to participate, and help in, the farm and antique tractor pulls. He was also very active with the Branch County Country Couples.

Vern was a man of faith, and was very active member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Burr Oak MI, and Bethlehem Lutheran in Fort Meyers Shores, FL.

Mr. Macke is survived by his wife of 18 years, Eileen; his children Larry (Deb) Macke of Hawkins, WI; Dianne (Chris) Pavka of Coldwater, MI; Deborah (Frank) Wilson of Bronson: his step-children Rick (Kerry) Vorndran of Indianapolis, IN; Linda (Kurt) Kleinrichert of Ft. Wayne, IN; Gail (Keith) Hill of Ft. Wayne, IN; Tim (Doris) Vorndran of Overland Park, KS and Tom (Yolanda) Vorndran of Arlington Hgts, IL; his brother Roy (Peggy) Macke of Ft. Wayne, IN; 11 grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; and many great grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Velma; his brothers Norbert and Lonnie Macke; and his grandson John Ruple.

Memorials may be directed to St. John’s Lutheran Church or Worship Anew (worship for shut-ins).
