Obituary for Velma Markley

Velma Markley, 101, of Bronson, passed away Friday, May 4, 2018 at her home.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 9, 2018 at 11:00 AM at North Gilead Cemetery with Pastor Terry Siler from the First Congregational Church in Bronson officiating. Arrangements are being cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson.
Velma was born July 1, 1916 in Bronson, MI to Irvin & Etta (Mast) Bercaw. She married Dean D. Markley on May 2, 1936 at the Pleasant Hill Parsonage. He preceded her in death on June 20, 2000.
Mrs. Markley lived her entire life in the Bronson area and in the same home since 1936, working alongside her husband on their farm. She served on the Noble Twp. Election Board for several years and was a member of the Home Extension Club. Velma loved to garden and read and she traveled extensively with her husband, visiting most states. She enjoyed every day and lived life to the fullest.
Velma is survived by her brother Harley Bercaw and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers Ferrell, Virgil, Harry, Fay, Glen, Jesse and William.
