Obituary for Terry L. Capman

Terry Lee Capman, 71 of Bronson passed away Saturday, January 16, 2021 at his home while under hospice care and surrounded by his loving family.

In following his wishes, cremation has taken place and the family will have a celebration of Terry’s life at a later date. The family was cared for by Dutcher Funeral Home.

Terry was born April 14, 1949 to Archie and Connie (Pickerd) Capman, Jr. in Sturgis. After high school graduation he entered the US Army, serving in Viet Nam and continuing his service for 20 plus years. Terry earned his Associate’s Degree from ITT in Tool Engineering Technologies. After leaving the Army he worked with the State of Indiana in the road commission until retirement in 2011. On January 10, 1968 he married the love of his life, Terry Lynn Coy in Bronson. Together they traveled the country while Terry was in the Army.

Terry had many interests. He was very skilled in working with small parts assembling model trains, cars, and metal sculptures. In his younger years he was an excellent gun smith, building and rebuilding parts needed in many ways. Terry enjoyed woodworking and doing yardwork. He will be remembered as being a “rock” for his family and friends, always being available to help in any way needed. Terry’s true joy in life was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Mr. Capman is survived by his wife of 53 years, Terry Capman of Bronson; his children Eric Capman of Bronson and Carie (Allan) Lantz of Morgantown, KY; his siblings Bradley (Debora) Capman of Sturgis and Dale (Jody) Hobel of Fremont, IN; his grandchildren Blayne (Sabrina) Dunham, Emali (Quinton) Phelps, and Dakota (Ciara) Merick; his great grandchildren Jacobe’, Corbin, Blakeley, and Thailia; and many nieces & nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Diane Vedmore and his cat “Rufus”.
