Obituary for Suette M. Burnside

Suette May Burnside, 79 of Bronson passed away Friday, July 17, 2020 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo.

A funeral service will take place at 11:00 am on Friday, July 24, 2020 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson with Pastor Jim Erwin of Bethel Gilead Community Church officiating. Interment will follow at Trayer Cemetery in Bronson. Visitation will be Thursday, July 23, 2020 at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson from 4:00 – 6:00 pm.

Suette was born May 26, 1941 to Carl and Ina (Coney) Rinehart in LaGrange, IN. She graduated high school and then took a secretarial position with Darling. On November 28, 1959 she married the love of her life, Gordon Burnside in Bronson. Soon after started their family and Suette stayed home to raise her children and help work the family farm.

Suette was a woman of faith and a long-time member of Bethel Gilead Community Church where she taught Sunday school and was very involved in the Women’s Fellowship. She was the President of the TOPS Club for a period of time. Suette always put the needs of her family before her own. She enjoyed sewing and keeping a neat homestead. Suette will be remembered as a kind, gentle, and empathetic woman known for providing a “soft place to land” if needed. She will be missed by many.

Mrs. Burnside is survived by her son Bart Burnside of Bronson; her grandchildren Chris (Jodi) Lytle, Heather Lytle, Ashley (Brandon) Butters, Kim Lytle, Reuben (Heather) Burnside, and Kaysie Burnside; her great grandchildren Andrew, Everett, Camdyn, and Madeline; many nieces & nephews; and her good friends Mary Ellen Turner and Janet Hathaway. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Gordon; her son Brent Burnside; her daughter Carmel Burnside; and her siblings Florence, Doris, Jean, and Floyd.
