Obituary for Shorty Hauska
Flora “Shorty” Hauska, 94, of Coldwater, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Mark Case from California Community Church officiating. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held Monday, December 26, 2022 from 4-7:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Shorty was born September 27, 1928 in Coldwater, MI to Ross and Jeanette (Wilkins) Rubley. She married Jacob “Jack” Hauska on January 14, 1950 in Coldwater. He preceded her in death on November 12, 2009.
Mrs. Hauska was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker, raising four children. Her love of cutting hair led her to attend barber school at the age of 55. She opened Shorty’s Barber Shop in Coldwater in 1985, which she operated for 10 years and eventually sold to her daughter in 1997. Shorty loved going to the casino and was an avid bridge player and golfer. She adored spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Shorty is survived by her children Bruce (Judy) Hauska, Sara (Rick) Roper, Jenny Rakocy all of Coldwater, Joe (Michelle) Hauska of West Bloomfield; her sister Florence Ewers of Coldwater; her grandchildren Gretchen, Becky, Mark, Matt, John, Sydney, Logan; great grandchildren Jacob, Lucas, Lauren, Braden, Eva and Sophia. In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by her brothers Dale Rubley, Garrett Rubley and sister Thelma Endicott.
