Obituary for Shirley R. Sechler
Shirley R. Sechler, 90, of Coldwater, passed away Friday, January 27, 2023 at Maple Lawn.
The funeral service will be held Tuesday, January 31, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater with Pastor Mark Case from California Community Church officiating. Interment will follow at Evergreen Cemetery in Girard. Visitation will be held Monday, January 30, 2023 from 4-7:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
Shirley was born March 4, 1932 in Tekonsha, MI to Ellery & Mildred (Hall) King. She graduated from Coldwater High School in 1950 and married Gerald “Oz” Sechler on June 15, 1952 in Girard, MI. He preceded her in death in September of 1994.
Mrs. Sechler was a dedicated wife, mother and homemaker. She worked a few years in the Branch County Treasurer’s office until starting her family. She was very active in the lives of her children. When Shirley wasn’t canning, freezing or baking, she was volunteering as a room mother at school, 4H Leader, with Cub Scouts and Campfire. In her later years, Shirley enjoyed reading, working puzzle books, cross stitch and knitting.
Shirley is survived by her daughter Janet (Loren) Miller of Stafford, VA; her grandchildren Jessica (Mike) Mobley, Douglas Allen Sechler, William (Kari) Sechler, David (Emily) Miller, Bradley (Erin) Miller; her great grandchildren Adam, Jade, Kurt, Zack and Zoey. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her son Douglas Gerald Sechler and her brother Howard King.
