Obituary for Sherry K. (Lyon) Preston
Sherry K. (Lyon) Preston, 72, of Coldwater, passed away Monday, May 25, 2020 at ProMedica Coldwater Regional Hospital. According to her wishes, no services will be held at this time. Interment of ashes will be held at Fry Cemetery. Cremation services have been provided by Dutcher Funeral Home.
Sherry was born April 12, 1948 in Sturgis, MI to Harold & Joyce (Sutton) Smith. She attended both Michigan State University and Western Michigan University, earning her cosmetology certification.
Sherry married James (Poo) Lyon, he preceded her in death on July 16, 1992. She married Darryl L. Preston on October 22, 1995.
Sherry was a licensed cosmetologist for over 50 years at Emily’s, Kathy’s Beauty Mall and Maple Lawn. She spent a few years with the Coldwater Community Schools, helping to prepare school lunches. She enjoyed feeding the birds, flower gardening and reading. She was a great cook and liked to go to car shows with her husband. Her greatest joy was her family. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Sherry is survived by her husband Darryl, her children Casey (John, Jr.) Baxter of Deptford, NJ, Cathy Lyon of Coldwater, James (Sarah) Lyon of Fremont, IN, her step children Kenneth (Corrine) Preston of Mesa, AZ, Karen (David) Snell of Albion, NY, her grandchildren John Baxter III, Shelby Baxter, James Baxter, Hayden Lyon, Allie Lyon, step grandchildren Brandi Klauck, Lisa Mele, Timothy Preston and step great grandchildren Payton and Lincoln.
