Obituary for Scot Alan Bystry

Scot Bystry, 53, of Bronson, passed away Friday, January 13, 2023 surrounded by his caring and loving family. In accordance to his wishes, cremation has taken place and the family will receive guests for a memorial visitation on Thursday, January 19, 2023 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Dutcher Funeral Home in Bronson.
He was born September 28, 1969 to Richard and Sheila (Woodard) Bystry in Coldwater, MI. Scot was a graduate of Bronson High School where he then pursued a 33 year career as a machinist and ultimately as supervisor for Sturgis Molded Products until his health no longer allowed him to do so. Scot married Kimberly Morris; though their marriage ended in divorce they remained good friends raising their daughters together. He was an avid outdoorsman that loved to hunt and fish. If he didn’t get a couple of deer each year it was an extremely unusual season. Scot was also exceptional at finding morel mushrooms; he had his favorite spots to find them and would return home with grocery sacks filled with them. He was always very generous in sharing fish, venison, and mushrooms with friends and family.
Scot lived a simple life filled with love and compassion for his daughters and granddaughters. His girls were the “loves” of his life. Whatever the girls were involved in, so was Scot. He guided and supported them in all of their endeavors. Scot held a passion for softball, especially when it came to coaching his daughters, a memory he cherished dearly. An excellent teacher, Scot also taught his daughters to hunt, fish, and appreciate the outdoors. Scot and his girls also enjoyed watching movies together at home and were often first to see new releases on the big screen. He shared with them his music favorites and also showed them on occasion his special dance moves. Smiles and humor were always a foundation to their shared love.
It is difficult to convey just how special a person Scot was. He loved living and life. Scot was a humble and respectful man; he seldom displayed anger and handled situations with patience and understanding. Scot always had a smile on his face. He was positive minded and had a great sense of humor. He loved telling jokes and had his own special way of sharing stories.
Scot had many people to support him throughout his illness. He was grateful for all the love and kindness he received. A very special thanks to Dan and Kim who welcomed him into their home so that he could be surrounded and embraced by all of his family during his illness. Scot was so loved by his daughters that they planned their work schedules so that one of them was with him at all times.
Scot leaves behind his three daughters, Kyleigh (Devin) Bloom of Union City, Kassidy Bystry of Tampa, FL, Kelsey Bystry of Coldwater; his two granddaughters Hadleigh and Ryleigh Bloom; two brothers Tad (Amy) Bystry of Allegan, MI, Dusty Bystry of Bronson, his two nieces Madison (Alex Liggett) Bystry and Kennedy Bystry and the mother of his children Kim Bystry.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A special thank you to friends who supported his daughters during this very difficult time. The support shown was a testament as to how much Scot was loved by all. A very special thank you to ProMedica Hospice care and the support they provided. They made a very difficult time as acceptable as possible.
