Obituary for Ronald Duane VanVoorhis

Ronald Duane VanVoorhis, 75, of Hillsdale, passed away Thursday, July 1, 2021 at Ascension Borgess Hospital in Kalamazoo. No services will be held at this time, a private family burial will take place at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Litchfield.
Ron was born October 14, 1945 to Herman and Carrie (McCarty) VanVoorhis in Hillsdale, MI. He was a Reading High school graduate and on February 14, 1991 he married Linda K. Hobby in Williamsburg, Virginia and she survives. He was a very dedicated, hardworking man that owned and operated VanVoorhis Builders until his retirement and had continued his trade as a very skilled carpenter building beautiful pieces of furniture. Ron had volunteered and served as fire chief for the Reading Fire Department for over 20 years. He enjoyed cars, wood, his work, camping, and standard-bred race horses; but above all, his family was his true passion.
In addition to his wife Linda, Ron leaves behind his two step-sons Todd (Amy) Morris of Osseo, Troy Morris of Hillsdale; his brother Frank (Cleona) VanVoorhis of Conway, S.C.; four grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and his loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Gerald, his sisters Shirley and Marian.
Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Dutcher Funeral Home in Coldwater.
